Connect Gemini CLI (Code Assist)
Who this is for: anyone with a Gemini Code Assist Standard or Enterprise seat who runs Gemini CLI on their own runner.
What this does: explains who can still use a Gemini CLI login, then walks you through connecting one so SpiderGate can lend it to your own Gemini CLI.
Before you begin
A Gemini Code Assist Standard or Enterprise subscription, managed through Google Cloud.
A runner where you run the official Gemini CLI.
About 2 minutes.
Limits and terms to know first
Warning: Google shut down the consumer login. "Starting June 18, 2026", Google says, Code Assist "stopped serving requests for the Gemini Code Assist for individuals, Google AI Pro, and Google AI Ultra tiers. This also applies to usage of Gemini CLI", and "you can no longer use the Login with Google option". If your Gemini comes from a personal Google account, AI Pro or AI Ultra, this page is not for you; see Google AI Studio for an API key instead.
Warning: Google's Gemini CLI terms say: "Directly accessing the services powering Gemini CLI (for example, the Gemini Code Assist service) using third-party software, tools, or services (for example, using OpenClaw with Gemini CLI OAuth) is a violation of applicable terms and policies. Such actions may be grounds for suspension or termination of your account." Read Google's terms before you connect.
SpiderGate never answers a chat request with this login. It keeps the credential in your vault and lends it, a short pass at a time, to the official CLI running on your own runner. The key is never shared with the SpiderIQ pool. See Your Subscriptions for how a runner reads its free lease slots.
Google's quota page gives Code Assist Standard 1,500 requests per user per day and Enterprise 2,000, and notes that "One prompt might result in multiple model requests".
Steps
Step 1 — Start the connection
Open Gate → Vault (/dashboard/gate/vault) and click Add Provider. Under Connect a subscription, choose Gemini CLI ("Sign in with Google"). The Connect Gemini CLI dialog opens.
Step 2 — Pick your package
Under Billing · Subscription, pick the package that matches your Code Assist edition. Optionally set CLI leases.
Step 3 — Sign in and paste back
Under Step 1 — Sign in, click Open Google sign-in. Sign in with the Google account that holds the Code Assist seat and authorize Gemini CLI. You land on a localhost:1455 page that does not load. That is expected.
Copy the full URL from the address bar, paste it into the Step 2 box, and click Finish connect.
Verify it worked
The login appears in your vault as a Subscription key. GET /api/gate/v1/subscriptions (see Your Subscriptions) returns it with usage: lease, an empty models list (correct for a lent login: your CLI picks the model) and lease.free_slots.
Troubleshoot
The sign-in works, but the CLI gets no answers. The Google account is probably on a discontinued tier (individuals, AI Pro or AI Ultra). Only Standard and Enterprise still serve Gemini CLI.
Couldn't read a code + state from that. Paste the full URL or code shown by the provider. Paste the whole localhost:1455 address, not part of it.
