Get a WaveSpeedAI key
Who this is for: anyone with a WaveSpeedAI account who wants its balance and spend tracked in SpiderGate.
What this does: walks you through generating a WaveSpeedAI key and adding it to your SpiderGate vault, where SpiderGate reads the account's balance and usage.
Before you begin
A WaveSpeedAI account. WaveSpeedAI says "Eligible new accounts receive $1 in free credits", with no card needed to sign up, though a new email alone "does not guarantee eligibility".

Limits and terms to know first
WaveSpeedAI is pay-per-use with no monthly fee. "A top-up is not required to activate a key", but each billable request needs credit, and some premium models are not available on trial credit.
Note: SpiderGate's media generation does not call WaveSpeedAI yet. A WaveSpeedAI key in your vault is used to read the account's balance and daily usage, not to generate. To generate media on your own key today, use fal.ai or kie.ai.
Steps
Step 1 — Generate the key
Open wavespeed.ai/accesskey and click Generate. Copy it now; WaveSpeedAI says "you won't be able to see it again."
Step 2 — Add it in SpiderGate
Open Gate → Vault (/dashboard/gate/vault) and click Add Provider. Pick wavespeed.ai from the Media group, paste the key into API Key and add a Label. Under Routing, turn Share with SpiderIQ key pool off, so the key stays with your brand. Click Add key.
Verify it worked
When you click Add key, SpiderGate sends one request to WaveSpeedAI with the key before it stores anything: it reads your balance at https://api.wavespeed.ai/api/v3/balance.
If WaveSpeedAI accepts the key, the dialog closes and the key appears in your vault list.
If it does not, the dialog stays open and shows:
The wavespeed_ai key did not pass its check: <reason>. Nothing was saved.The reason is SpiderGate's own wording, never WaveSpeedAI's error text. The usual ones are Invalid API key (401 Unauthorized), Access denied (403 Forbidden) and The account behind this key has no credit left (402).
To see the key serve a request, give it a slot in one of your own routing aliases and send a request to that alias. The trace shows which provider answered.
Troubleshoot
The balance does not appear. The key may lack credit or the account may not be eligible for trial credit; WaveSpeedAI says a new email alone "does not guarantee eligibility". Top up on WaveSpeedAI.
Too many keys checked for this workspace; try again in …s. SpiderGate runs at most 20 key checks per brand in any 10 minutes. Wait the number of seconds it gives, then click Add key again.
Request timed out (15s) or Could not reach … to check the key. Try again later. The provider did not answer in time. Nothing was saved. Try again in a minute.
The provider is rate-limiting us (429). Try again in a minute. The provider throttled the check itself. Wait a minute and retry.
