Connect Grok (SuperGrok / X Premium+)

Who this is for: anyone with a Grok subscription who runs xAI's Grok CLI on their own runner.

What this does: walks you through connecting your Grok login with a sign-in code, so SpiderGate can lend it to the official Grok CLI on your runner.

Before you begin

  • A Grok subscription. On 12 October 2026 xAI launched The X Subscription (Free, Plus $8, Premium $30, Super $100, Ultra $200 a month), which bundles Grok, Cursor and X Premium. xAI says "Existing Cursor, SuperGrok, and X Premium plans continue unless you change or cancel them."

  • A runner where you run the official Grok CLI, which xAI now calls Grok Build (the grok command, in beta).

  • About 3 minutes.

Limits and terms to know first

xAI says Grok and Cursor "share a weekly included usage pool", and that the API is billed separately from the subscription. Which plans include Grok Build is not stated on a page we could read; check your plan on x.ai.

SpiderGate never answers a chat request with this login. It keeps the credential in your vault and lends it, a short pass at a time, to the official CLI running on your own runner. The key is never shared with the SpiderIQ pool. See Your Subscriptions for how a runner reads its free lease slots.

Warning: A subscription is for its subscriber. Read xAI's subscription terms on x.ai before you connect, and keep this login to your own brand.

Steps

Step 1 — Start the connection

Open Gate → Vault (/dashboard/gate/vault) and click Add Provider. Under Connect a subscription, choose Grok. The dialog says there is no API key to paste: the official Grok CLI starts the sign-in, and you approve a code on x.ai.

Step 2 — Pick your package

Under Billing · Subscription, pick the package that matches your plan. Optionally set CLI leases.

Step 3 — Approve the code

Click Sign in with Grok. SpiderGate shows a code. Open the x.ai page it links to, sign in with the account that holds the subscription, and approve that code. SpiderGate finishes the connection once you approve.

Verify it worked

The login appears in your vault as a Subscription key. GET /api/gate/v1/subscriptions (see Your Subscriptions) returns it with usage: lease and lease.free_slots. SpiderGate renews the login with the Grok CLI on its own.

Troubleshoot

The code expires before you approve it. Close the dialog with Cancel sign-in and start again. A pending sign-in is held for up to 15 minutes.

The CLI on your runner signs in with an API key instead. xAI says the Grok CLI picks a credential per model in this order: model.api_key, model.env_key, the signed-in session, then XAI_API_KEY. Remove a key set in the model config if you want the leased login used.
